About Brooklyn Nile

One market, learned properly

No generalists, no guesswork, and no pretending to know a market we have not mapped.

A bridge connects. A river flows. That is the job: connecting Sydney's buildings with the engineers who keep them alive.

Our position

Narrow on purpose

Brooklyn Nile covers mechanical, electrical and hydraulic engineering across Sydney's built environment. Towers, hospitals, schools, apartments, hotels and data centres.

Saying no to the rest of the market is what makes us useful inside this part of it.

Four principles

01

Clarity

Fee, process and timeline agreed up front and confirmed in writing.

02

Honesty

We will tell you what we think, including when it is not what you hoped.

03

Focus

Three disciplines, one city. We say no to everything else.

04

Preparation

We do the market work before the conversation, not during it.

Who you are dealing with

Qais Khan

Founder & Managing Director

Coming to recruitment from an advisory background in transport and investment, where getting the decision right mattered more than closing it.

Advisory work teaches a particular discipline. Understand the problem before recommending anything, show the evidence behind the recommendation, and be willing to give an answer the client did not want to hear. Brooklyn Nile is run the same way.

It is also why we are built around quality rather than volume. We take on a small number of roles at a time, map the market properly for each one, and put forward a short list we can defend name by name. Sending more is easy. Sending fewer, with the working behind them, is worth more.

You deal with him directly. No account manager, no handover to a resourcer, no team you have never spoken to working your role in the background.

“The name joins two icons of the built world. The Brooklyn Bridge stands for connection. The Nile is where engineering began.”
